You are an experienced and skilled professional with strong BI Skills and Data Warehouse knowledge. You have worked on data integration projects and understand that data quality and its flow from system to system is critical for the efficient processing of data for reporting and analysis. You have worked collaboratively in a team based environment, engaging professionally with both individual team members and departments and have solid client facing experience. You will report into the Data Source Development Director and will work directly on the execution of technical plans across the businesses regions.
You enjoy a challenge and are willing to travel within Africa and selected areas of the Middle East in order to engage with Clients, ERP partners or IT departments and resolve, secure and set-up clean and efficient data feeds. You display patience and tenacity in the execution of tasks and in the resolution of issues. Working in a changeable environment energises you.
The role you play will be crucial in driving efficiency across the business and you will be responsible for ensuring that the business secures and receives clean and efficient data feeds from its varied data sources across the business enabling the efficient processing of all data within the Cloud-based application that centralises, processes, transforms and integrates disparate data sets.
It will be to your advantage to have a background in a BI/Data Warehouse/DataMart environment with a solid understanding of EDI, Supply Chain and Finance Systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engage with the identified data sources’ in Client IT departments or Client ERP partners in order to secure, resolve and set-up clean and efficient data feeds into the Cloud based platform
Build or design data input or data collection mechanisms together with the Cloud Development and Product teams
Assist data sources to develop their ability to provide more frequent and more effective data source delivery
Responsible for improving data quality though cleaning, transforming, validating and modelling Client data, as well as by aligning data sources to industry standards
Map and trace data from system to system in order to solve a given business or system problem
Conduct perform audits on data and resolve business related issues for customer base
Identify and share potential efficiency refinements to the data source development processes
Test databases for performance and fine-tuning
Maintain data integrity and security and keep data management systems current.
Complete documentation including business rules, logic, and processes, types and structure of the data (logical modelling)

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE:

At least 4 years’ experience as a BI Developer/SQL Specialist
A tertiary qualification together with the relevant SQL, BI and Data Platform Microsoft Exams (MTA, MCSA, MSCE), or alternatively an Honours Degree in Information Systems
Experience and exposure to the analysis of large datasets, database design and performance tuning
High proficiency in the use of the MSQL Server (TSQL) and exposure to MS Visual Studio (SSIS,SSAS, SSRS)
Experience in working with ERP systems on a small and medium scale
Exposure to data integration projects
Solid understanding of software development techniques and methodologies is to your advantage
Solid understanding of EDI, Supply Chain and Finance systems is to your advantage
Exposure to data access through ADO.NET, Entity Framework is an advantage
Proven track record of having successfully worked in a collaborative team based environment with client facing experience
This role is not suitable for a junior BI Developer or for someone wishing to transition into a BI role
