Security engineering is about building systems securely. The security engineering team is responsible for solution designing and implementation of key security controls and monitoring technologies within the bank, they also provide architectural design input and guidance for major initiatives, and assist projects with making practical and achievable security decisions.Job Purpose

Make the bank more secure by assisting projects and IT delivery teams make the right decisions when planning and implementing security measures to monitor and protect sensitive data and systems from infiltration or misuse.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Act as subject matter expert wrt security engineering activities;
• Assist projects with practical guidance in unpacking and implementing system security requirements;
• Prototype and PoC proposed security solutions;
• Develop detailed security designs that are practical and align to architectural requirements;
• Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information;
• Provide configuration assistance and troubleshoot implementation issues with security solutions;
• Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.

Preferred Qualification and Experience

• Proven work experience as a system security engineer;
• Experience in building and maintaining security systems;
• BS degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

• Detailed technical knowledge of database, operating system, and network security;
• Some background in, or knowledge of programming, preferably with Java, Ruby or Python;
• Hands on experience in Linux system administration and bash scripting;
• Hands on experience or knowledge of DevOps and automation engineering;
• Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
• Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols
• Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
