Description:Responsible for engaging new and existing clients of IQL through investigation and understanding the client business needs, documenting systems requirements and managing IQL’s delivery relationship with the client.
The candidate will negotiate at senior client level, but within limits of discretion. Likely to work alone as the bridge between clients and the IQL development team.
This job level represents a mature, experienced and fully capable ICT professional with background in the agro processing, textiles or related value chains. Such a person is fully accountable for work quality whether as a technical specialist, supply chain specialist and as line-manager. He/she possesses the background knowledge and experience in Traceability Systems, Supply Chain Management and Compliance Management Systems to take informed and responsible decisions which are both technically sound and take the needs of the clients and IQL fully into account.
Characteristics
• Takes full responsibility for defining the system requirements of a client and all technical decision-making after consultation with the rest of the team
• Takes project responsibility for significant undertakings whether in supply chain engineering, systems development, service delivery or support areas. In so doing is expected to recognise and take appropriate action in respect of any risk related aspects, whether it be from a client, a supply chain or an IQL perspective.
• Excellent communicator. Communicates effectively, both orally, presentation and in writing, with subordinates, colleagues, clients and customers at all levels of seniority.
• Enjoys application development and has the capability to design and develop applications, but prefers to be doing the business requirement definition and systems analysis.
• Is fully familiar with and will be measured on the contractual obligations and the financial status of a project, therefore makes recommendations for improving revenue or reducing costs.
• Takes a leading technical role and is thoroughly familiar with all applicable tools, methods, procedures and equipment within the area of responsibility. Uses experience to make informed decisions on selection and execution of all technical approaches and is able to give reliable advice across a wide technical field.
• Shows mature qualities of leadership in meeting targets of time, cost, quality and performance within projects of substantial value.
• Shows mature understanding of the relationship of his/her specialisation and/or project responsibilities to the undertaking as a whole and is able to propose technical solutions within the scope of his/her expertise which fully take into account the needs of all those who will come into contact with the operational product.
• Shows initiative and makes time available to ensure general technical competencies and specialisations are kept up-to-date in line with industry developments.

Education
• Preferably an Engineering or BSC Information Technology Degree
• Additional Systems Analysis & Project management qualifications
