My client is looking for aNetBackup Engineer that can be utilized for responsibilities that include installing and supportingsystem hardware and software, performing system upgrades, and evaluating and installing patches andsoftware updates on Veritas NetBackup. Responsibilities also include operational support activitiessuch as resolving software and hardware related problems, managing backupResponsibilities
Provide evaluation,engineering / design and implementation services for new products, technologies and solutions toaddress corporate business requirements.
Demonstrate creativity and take initiative inproblem solving. Resolve or facilitate resolution of complex problems for assigned program.
Has a thorough and comprehensive mastery of supported platforms / products andenvironments.
Provide exceptional customer service to Eskom
Perform dailyproduction support activities.
Perform patching across all environments.
Leadprojects associated to the enhancement, upgrade/patching, or implementation of new or existingtechnology solutions.
Provide technical leadership and ownership of issues across multipledisciplines and technologies.
Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Design, implement and maintain a comprehensive monitoring and alerting process across all BackupOperation platforms.
Identify technical innovation and process improvementopportunities.
Utilize standard tools and methodology to develop system and supportperformance metrics.
Perform crisis management during high-severity operationalincidents

 
 
Experience
4+ years of experiencein the design, implementation, administration and troubleshooting of a multi-site enterprise backup/ recovery environment.
4+ years of experience with Veritas NetBackup and VeritasOpsCenter
4+ years of experience with tapeless backup technologies
Provenexperience in the integration of Veritas NetBackup and snapshot technologies
Provenexperience with backup processes associated with Windows, Linux, UNIX, VMS, database platforms (MSSQL, IBM DB2, Cache, Sybase and Oracle), Veritas Enterprise Vault, SAP, Microsoft Exchange,Microsoft SharePoint, and NDMP
Familiarity in VTL technology
Provide operationalexcellence through process and documentation
Reliability and commitment to getting the jobdone
Proven ability to troubleshoot through vendors and operational personnel
