One of our top paying clients is seeking a Traffic Engineer to lead and develop a multi-disciplinary traffic engineering and transport planning team focussed on traffic and transportation modelling (micro and macro), public transport planning studies, traffic impact studies, traffic analysis, freeway traffic management systems (FTMS), freight studies, road safety studies, feasibility studies, and other transport/traffic related studies.

REPORTS TO: Unit Manager
Key responsibilities:
• Leading a multi-disciplinary team in the traffic engineer and transport planning domain
• Perform advanced professional work related to a variety of traffic and transport planning assignments in a diverse team working in the fields of traffic and transportation modelling, public transport planning studies including facility assessment, traffic impact studies, traffic analysis, roadway capacity studies, traffic signal designs and traffic signal optimisation, access management plans, site layouts and internal circulation, parking studies, freeway traffic management systems (FTMS), freight studies, road safety studies, and feasibility studies.
• Oversee the development of transportation models (Macro, Meso and Micro) on software packages such as VISUM & VISSIM, TransCAD, SYNCHRO, HCM, SIDRA
• Manage and coordinate complex traffic and transport planning studies
• Prepare, develop and review project documents
• Delivery of traffic engineering and transport planning projects
• Act as a liaison between clients, approving authorities and company resources
• Develop / review project budgets, administers / coordinates bidding processes, monitors / verifies contract expenditures and compliance
• Market services to potential clients including preparing proposals and/or presentations
• Liaise with stakeholders to ensure completed work meets client expectations, jurisdiction standards and business unit standards
• Communicate internally regarding resource allocations, financial performance and project/s delivery status
• Ensure smooth workflow by fairly delegating work to people with the proper skills and abilities
• Liaise with the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning team to ensure completed work meets or exceeds client expectations and applicable standards
• Ensure that all work put out is of a high quality and conform to company standards
• Actively participate in a team environment; sharing your technical knowledge and learning from others
• Conduct research and preparation of papers with regard to traffic engineering and transport planning
• Maintain required levels of CPD and proactively seek relevant training opportunities in specialist areas
• Conduct project site visits, progress meetings and presentation to clients or stakeholders as required
• Develop junior team members according to their approved growth path
• Development of the Traffic Engineering offerings for Africa and other emerging regions
• Integration with other disciplines related to traffic engineering and transport planning
• Development of the business in the public and private arena

REQUIREMENTS
Formal Qualification:
• BEng / BSc in Civil Engineering
• Post grad qualification (Transportation planning / Traffic Engineering) will be advantage
• Professionally registered with ECSA

Experience
• 10 years’ experience in Traffic Engineering
• Experience in the fields of traffic and transport modelling (macro, meso and micro), road safety, road network planning, road capacity analysis, traffic signal designs, public transport studies, freight studies, parking studies.
• International Experience would be an advantage
