Datacentrix is anintegrated, service-orientated ICT systems provider that operates across the entire informationvalue chain. The company is currently looking for a Senior Security Engineer and this comes with alot of pressure at timesPrimary Role Accountabilities:
• System engineers areresponsible for implementing, maintaining, supporting, developing and, in some cases, designingcommunication networks within an organisation or between organisations.
• establishing the network security environment by designing system configuration,directing system installation, defining, documenting and enforcing system standards;
• the design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the currentenvironment;
• maximizing network performance by monitoring performance,troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with solutionarchitects on network and security optimisation;
• undertaking data network faultinvestigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources;
• securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining andmonitoring access;
• the support and administration of firewall environments in linewith IT security policy;
• reporting network operational status by gathering andprioritising information and managing projects;
• upgrading data network equipment tothe latest stable firmware releases;
• the configuration of routing and switchingequipment;
• remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers duringinstallation;
• remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initialinstallation;
• liaising with project management teams, third-line engineers andservice desk engineers on a regular basis;
Critical Requirements - Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
 
Qualifications
• Essential matric/post matric qualificationprince to or equivalent.
• CCNP Security or higher level knowledge
• Certifications in F5, Fortigate, Checkpoint, Palo Alto
• Networkingknowledge (OSI Layers, Network Topologies, TCP/IP, etc.)
• Ability to attend toservice requests after hours during customer change windows
• Excellent written andspoken capability of the English language
• Valid driver’s license and ownreliable transport

Desired Skills
• Fundamentalunderstanding of IP protocols e.g. UDP, TCP, ICMP
• Fundamental understanding of IPbased services e.g. DHCP, DNS, RADIUS
• Fundamental understanding of virtualizationtechnologies
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Strongunderstanding of security technologies e.g. NAT, Virtual Instances, Web security, Email security,Remote Access VPN, Site-2-Site VPN, IDS/IPS, ADC

Experience
• Experience with security products e.g. Cisco, Fortigate, Checkpoint, F5
• Strong team player, with ability to actively contribute in teams with different skilland experience levels
• Strong troubleshooting skills in the securitydomain.
