Type: Permanent in hybrid environment to come into office 3 times per week

Location: Stellenbosch ( Really senior candidate who cant relocate then they can work at the Sandton branch )


Purpose:

• To design, develop and deploy reporting and analytical solutions to support and enhance business decisions through processing and converting data into actionable insights, delivered in report form, using the Capitec reporting and analytical tools (software) of choice.

Qualification:

• A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification (degree / diploma) in statistics, finance, actuarial science, mathematics, computer science, information systems, data or mathematical sciences, data analysis, business analysis or engineering.



Knowledge and experience:

• At least 4 to 6 years’ experience implementing innovative BI solutions leading to clear business decisions and benefits, including
• At least 4 to 6 years’ experience in data analysis, including experience in and understanding of database structure design and data extraction principles (ETL).
• At least 4 to 6 years’ experience working with any visualisation tools of which 2 years is on Power BI (DAX, M)
• At least 4 to 6 years' experience in SQL (Postgres, MySql, MS SQL) which involved cleaning, enriching, transforming , data mapping, data aggregation, and data normalization that is suitable for data analysis.
• Working with product development life cycle and Agile frameworks
Experience managing projects own work and initiatives from start to finish, including planning, scoping, budgeting, and timeline management.


Knowledge:

• Overall good understanding and application of BI and Data Warehousing best practice
• Overall good understanding in Python or R (or any other relevant programming language)
• Expert in the field of BI development (reports, dashboards, data visualisation, etc.)
• Extensive knowledge of BI/reporting and analytical tools
• In depth knowledge of BI environments, solutions and implementations (end-to-end BI architecture and technologies)
• In depth knowledge in the field of data analysis methodologies (Descriptive-,Diagnostic-,Predictive-,Prescriptive Analytics)
• Knowledge of both waterfall and agile development approaches
• Knowledge of SQL query language: Preferably AWS services (Redshift, Athena, DataLake, Python, PostgreSql, MySQL) or MS Technologies (Azure services, SQL, SSAS)
• A good understanding of design and user experience principles
• Understanding of Agile principles


Functional Skills

1. Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI: a strong understanding of the Power BI platform, including data modelling, report and dashboard design, and data integration.
2. Data Modelling: expertise in creating data models that enable efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of data.
3. Data Analysis: must be able to analyse data to identify trends, patterns, insights and issues in data and reports to inform business decisions
4. Data Integration: integrating data from multiple sources (for example AWS Redshift), including structured and unstructured data, to create a comprehensive view of the business.
5. Using and applying Business Intelligence tools and technologies such as SQL Server, DBeaver, Azure Data Factory, and DAX.
6. Proficient in languages such as SQL, MySql, PostgreSql, Python, or R.
7. Data Visualization: creating effective visualizations that help stakeholders understand complex data and identify trends and patterns.
8. Data Management: managing data quality, security, and privacy to ensure that the data used in BI environment is accurate and up-to-date.
9. Collaboration: able to work collaboratively and effectively with other developers and data analysts to ensure that BI solutions meet the needs of the organization.

KPA:

5.1 BI development practice and service
• Use know how and experience to decide on and apply an approach to issue definition and resolution within scope of own tasks.
• Remain current with industry trends and thought leadership on Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, BI architecture and technologies.
• Identify when there is potential impact of change to applicable standards, methods, tools, applications and processes relevant to the practice.
• Provide oversight of other's work, where required and appropriate according to the structure / internal team.
• Establish effective and collaborative partnerships with relevant business teams where required in order to understand the context of the reporting requirements.
• Build effective relationships with and collaborate with relevant stakeholders; Business Intelligence Business Analysts (BIBAs), Data Engineers and Data Modellers, or any other data professional to analyse and recommend solutions to meet business requirements.
• Interact with and influence colleagues in own team and across teams for initiatives or projects.
• Work closely with both clients and internal, cross-functional teams so that report/analytical delivery and requirements are met on time and to standard.
• Assist the BIBA where required to facilitate dialogue between internal and external clients and teams and communicate technical information, functionality, as well as limitations to non-technical clients.
• Liaise with other BI Developer or Analyst community(s) members to knowledge-share, and improve and develop the BI development standards and practices within Capitec.
• Define and implement reporting standards and templates to improve quality and standardise Way of Work.
• Research the current and emerging trends in reporting and data visualisation to stay abreast on the evolution of reporting and visualisation.


5.2 Report/Insight/Analytical Development and delivery.
• Responsible for planning, scheduling and monitoring work largely autonomously to meet given objectives and processes to time and quality targets for own or internal team members.
• Apply experience and judgement to make appropriate and accurate decisions in the execution of tasks, initiatives or projects.
• Plan, schedule and monitor work to meet objectives and processes to time and quality targets.
• Apply expertise to perform a range of moderately complex, non routine work for a variety of requirements and environments.
• Deliver quality and timely reporting or analytical requirements through applying and following agile processes (planning, ceremonies, Jira).
• Liaise with the BIBA to gather information and fully understand the requirement of the business client.
• Provide input into the impact analysis for new business information solutions including detailed development estimates, the technical feasibility of and risks associated with each solution design/project.
• Execute the report delivery in accordance to the data product life cycle (DPLC).
• Ensure adherence to internal architecture and data integration standards as well as the long term data and analytics strategy.
• Test solutions (e.g. regression testing) and verify that it meets business, functional and technical specifications, including peer testing.
• Maintain reporting and analytical solutions to accommodate changes in data and additions to new business requirements.
• Confirm and agree sign off of proposed reporting solution with the relevant stakeholders.

• Actively participate in the BI Community of practice through knowledge-sharing, mentoring and the improvement or development of standards and practices.
