Purpose of the Job
The main objective of the Software Test Analyst is to ensure that all testing deliverables are made to Customers on-time, within budget, and right first time, to ensure complete Customer Satisfaction. The Software Test Analyst reports into the Software Test Lead.

Outputs to be delivered
- Produce test documentation and estimates for the implementation of quality software within the agreed timeframes
- Tests software according to UCS TS testing standards and testing strategy
- Execute program update roll-outs
- Provides feedback to management and all stakeholders on testing process
- Communicates, coaches and provides input to Developers, Business Analysts, Support, and other Testers to contribute to a quality system and a productive team
- Assists 2nd line, 3rd line support and customer with trouble shooting, to ensure complete Client satisfaction
- Maintains up to date QA and UAT environment
- Maintains up to date UCS software administration requirements

Tasks that needs to be performed in this job
- Thoroughly reviews business requirements and provides input back to the test lead, application designer and business analysts, against the specification as well as the customer’s existing customised solution (Unit and Integration Testing)
- Obtains a clear understanding of the business requirement in conjunction with the Team Leader or Business Analyst or Developer
- Provides accurate testing estimates for quotation to the client and prioritisation of deliverables
- Documents test plans and creates test cases for the team against specifications and existing solution according to UCS test standards
- Performs a testing risk analysis on required software changes
- Create and maintain regression test plan and test cases
- Thoroughly test solution according to schedule or agreed deadlines, against the specification, test plans as well as the customer’s existing customised solution (Unit and Integration Testing)
- Communicate with developers timeously on bugs/issues experienced and record all findings as per agreed documenting process
- Perform complete and accurate regression testing on all customer scenarios
- Manage time management and perform testing in line with testing schedule and agreed priorities
- Addresses issues by being empathetic and pro-active
- Provide timeous feedback to test lead/development manager on delays, bugs/issues uncovered to allow for prioritisation
- Provides input, assistance and guidance to customers when required on implementation of software
- Acts in a professional manner when dealing with internal/external customers and team
- Assists with support queries efficiently and within agreed timeframes
- Troubleshooting of problems or solution implementation
- Perform bug resolution process with speed and efficiency
- Ensure that QA test environment is updated timeously and supports all testing requirements
- Releases builds/test databases to Customer UAT environment under authorisation from test lead or development manager
- Ensures that all work done is accurately captured against SRs
- Provides and submits timeous, accurate UCS administration requirements

Qualification & Experience
Qualification
- IT Diploma or Degree and or Relevant Certification

Experience & Knowledge Required
- At least 2 years’ experience
- Cobol experiences is an advantage
- Knowledge of Retail Systems is an advantage
- Understanding of Testing Techniques
- Understanding of change control system
- Some understanding of programming concepts and design methodology
- Understanding of a software development cycle
